WHAT IS MENTORING?
A mentor provides support to a student by supplying practical information, increasing a student’s knowledge of skills and by enhancing self-esteem through a supportive and attentive relationship. A mentor is a special friend to a young person sharing valuable experiences, modeling an understanding and caring way of dealing with others, and empowering the young person to be a secure, self-confident individual.
WHAT DOES BE A MENTOR DO?
The Be A Mentor program helps guide and place volunteers into one of the many mentoring programs throughout the Greater Charleston area. Whether it is the Boys and Girls’ Club, Big Brother Big Sister, Metanoia, Communities in Schools, or another mentoring program in the area, the chance to become a positive influence and light in a child’s life is not far away! Please explore our website to find out more information about our program, about mentoring in general, or about our partners in the Greater Charleston area. Thank you for visiting!
